Yeesh

Gosh, I've spent all evening trying to revamp my blog site and number one, its slightly difficult, but what makes it most difficult is trying to make a decision on what you want your blog to look like. Frankly, there's so many different designs it took me all night to figure out which one I wanted. SO, if you don't like it, leave a comment... I need to know.

Well, just a brief recap tonight, but I'm sick once again -- and not just any kind of sick, I've missed the last two and a half days from work I'm so sick. I mean ya, I can take medicine, but Sudafed and Robitussin can only take me so far... I've been absolutely miserable these last few days. The only thing that was good news is that I don't have strep throat or the flu. Which, has anyone ever been swabbed for the flu? They stick a giant q-tip up your nose -- all the way up. It was awful! Gosh, it made my eyes water and I pushed the nurse away from me telling her to stop -- I'm sure I was an annoying patient the other day, but I don't like people sticking things far up my nose! And talk about an awful part of someone's job... how gross.

So, there's only been one or two things that have happened in my life since I've been sleeping on the couch every day. Once again, Drew is the best husband in the world because he goes and gets me ice cream whenever I crave it (which just happened to be tonight as a matter of fact), and he cooks dinner a lot lately. Oh! And he hung up some decorations I had for the nursery.

One thing that Drew did discover today is that I lied to him about where I ate lunch. So as he's been taking his lunch to work, I should have been eating a sandwich at the house, but for some reason a cheeseburger sounded really good today, so I went to Burger King and got a whopper. Well, Drew came home tonight and asked me what I ate today and I said a PBandJ. Well I got away with it until he started cooking and saw the Burger King bag in the kitchen trash... WHOOPS! He lectured me about it and then said I was a bad person for lying to him without even blinking!

Last, its one thing when you get pregnant and you sneeze and you pregnant ladies knows what happens... Its another thing when you have a cold and sneeze and cough all day -- again, you pregnant ladies or moms would know what I'm referring to and its really a pain! I think I've done laundry every single day lately!

That's it for now! Happy New Year's everyone!

Christmas is Over...

Christmas is over, which sucks. I actually had a really great Christmas, it's just that it always seems like it takes forever to get here and then its over in an instant.... Blah.

On another note, here's a recap of the weekend. Thursday Drew had off so he did all the Christmas shopping, which wasn't actually that much this year because we drew names for my family and then just did a white elephant gift. So Drew did all the shopping and then I got this great idea in my head that I was going to buy this really cute outfit since Christmas church service was sort of my big night out... Well, after walking around the Galleria, the outlet mall (where I stuffed two chocolate chip cookies and a Dr. Pepper in my mouth), and the City Centre and Memorial City mall, I found absolutely nothing. Why is it when you have money to burn there's never anything that great, and of course when you're broke, everything is super cute at the mall? That really ticks me off -- however, I did get a couple of maternity sweaters for $20 from Gap which was cool.

Anyways, church Friday night was good, then we came home to pick up the dogs before heading to my parents house. So what happens? The cold front came through and it started raining so hard it was flooding when we tried to leave. So that was real great -- trying to run outside in the pouring rain and holding my stomach while also trying not to slip and fall. It sucked. And then Drew and I were hungry and were going to get fast food on the way to my parents (ya, great christmas eve meal), but everything was closed... So we ended up eating sandwiches when we got there.

Nothing too exciting to note for the weekend except a few details:

-Drew is sick and my grandma stayed over so they wanted the air upstairs on about 75 heat.
-I am pregnant and like it cold, so I want it on 65 A/C.... Needless to say it was a long weekend.

On another note, the white elephant gifts. I actually took our gifts slightly seriously, so they were pretty nice. Drew got a shake weight, which was then stolen and he ended up with a Santa on a horse statue with wolves surrounding it (it's hysterical), and I got a snuggie -- and not just any Snuggie (because I actually like those), its pepto bismal pink! It was a lot of fun... and I got this robe and nursing nightie (i don't know what else to call it), that I can wear in the hospital when I deliver and I liked it! My Aunt brought Drew a camo outfit for Gage and Scott and Heather brought us a shirt for him from Singapore with the local beer brand on it. I'm pretty sure Gage is going to be decked out in either camo or alcoholic shirts from the get-go. And we feel comfortable with that.
Last -- ya'll knew I wasn't going to take photos this weekend. With the rain and the flooding it completely slipped my mind to take my camera to my parents house. BUT, I did take some photos of the nursery. It's completely plain looking, but you'll get the idea. I'm sure in the coming months it will look really cute, but at least this gives you an idea:

So this is just my glider - which happens to be the most comfortable chair in the world, but the swatches are the fabrics that will be in the nursery. I'm thinking it'll be done in the next month or two.

That's pretty much it, I know its not too exciting today. More to come later this week, hope everyone's weekend was fabulous! Now, on to New Year's!

Paige and Drew + 1

So after nearly a year off and multiple people telling me to keep the blog going, I figured I'd go ahead and start it back up. Instead of it being a general blog where I complain about a lot of things (I'm sure I'll still keep this up) -- I'll switch the focus to the family, because frankly, I read other people's blogs to hear about their family, so I thought it would be most interesting. Plus, when the baby gets here people won't have to ask about an update, they can just check here. A lot has happened in a year, so I'll try and update you fairly quickly.

Since January 2010, we've completed the front half of the house remodel (well, most of it anyways), laid wood floors in the back half of the house, remodeled the guest bathroom, I've changed jobs (Finally!) and OH -- we're expecting our first child!

To be clear, NO -- I don't have any pregnancy photos or ultrasound photos loaded up. If you know me well, you know I'm not really a sentimental person, so I've documented absolutely nothing since becoming pregnant. I can update everyone on how awful pregnancy is, but that will come in later paragraphs. I'll try and take a photo over the weekend since its Christmas and I'll add that to make everyone happy and they can see how I'm growing.

First things first -- 2010 has been a wonderful year for us -- complete with lots of blessings and surprises! A wonderful trip to the Caymans to visit friends and a very stressful period of doctor's appointments revealed to us we were expecting! After being told we could never have children you can imagine that came as quite a shock to us (but a good shock of course)! Right after we found out we were expecting, I got a call about an awesome job opportunity -- which I happily accepted, and things have been smooth sailing from there!

At present, I'm 26 weeks pregnant, weight gain is 14 pounds, I've had two trips to the hospital, have spent more days throwing up than I ever did in college and flop around like a fish all night long because I'm nauseous no matter which position I lay in. The hormones are awful, the sciatic nerve pain is awful, I pee constantly and my body is changing in more ways than I'd like to EVER discuss. I never drank cokes really beforehand or ate that much fastfood and now I go to Burger King at lunch and get the Whopper Meal supersized. It's disgusting and I pray to God that these eating habits leave and never return after delivery. If it's not fast food, I force Drew to go eat Pappadeaux Greek Salad for a family of four (which honestly probably feeds 8) and I shout at the waiter to bring us not one, but two loaves of bread because I know I will eat them both no matter how much Drew says I won't eat all this food. I don't even think Drew knows how to handle me anymore or even wants to deal with me, except when he needs a driver to pick him up from the bar at 2 in the morning. YES, super pumped about BABY GAGE -- NOT pumped about the nine months leading up to his arrival. Thanks goodness there's only three more months to go. I'm convinced he's coming early -- call it my maternal instinct. And if he doesn't come early, clearly I have no instinct.

I'll keep this entry short and sweet, as its more just an announcement that the blog is back, but in the coming weeks I'll update with the progress of the pregnancy and then of course, life when there's three of us!

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a great start to the New Year!
